About Body — Relaxation Me
Reduce physical tension and improve body awareness.
Why it helps
Stress often shows up as persistent muscular co-contraction. Body-based methods help reduce baseline tension and improve interoceptive awareness so stress is noticed earlier.
How to practice
- Move attention slowly through one body area at a time.
- Use brief tension-release contrast only where comfortable.
- Finish with two quiet breaths and notice what softened.
Techniques
- Body Scan Meditation — Use a body scan meditation to move attention through the body and release physical tension area by area.
- Progressive Muscle Relaxation — Practice progressive muscle relaxation by tensing and releasing muscle groups to reduce stress and physical tension.
- Autogenic Training — Use self-directed phrases of heaviness and warmth for deep body relaxation.
- Tension Release Exercise — Use a quick tension release exercise to find held tension and consciously soften it on the exhale.
- Grounding Exercise for Anxiety — Orient to the present moment through senses and surroundings during anxiety or stress.
